Have you ever played the game Peek-a-boo with a baby? They are so
happy to see your face again, they start giggling. The simplicity of the
game is outstanding. I mean all you are doing is covering their eyes,
or your eyes, or hiding in plain sight but as soon as you come out or
uncover their eyes it triggers complete joy! I love playing with game
with Emerson, it is like he has never seen my face before and is just so
happy, it distracts him from his unhappy states and his giggles are
infectious.
God is very much the same way. I mean you are
probably not going to play a game of Peek-a-boo with God, although I
suppose anything is possible. But what I really mean is that God is
always so happy with we show our faces again. As humans we deviate from
the path that God has set before us, at least I know I have. Yet every
time I find my way back, God is right there elated that I am back.
As
Christians we are charged to bring others into the fold, to expand the
reach of God and show others how awesome it is to have God in our
hearts. Every time someone new comes to go or someone returns to God
there is a celebration in Heaven! We should be having a celebration on
Earth as well! Worship should be a party. We should be thanking God for
letting us praise him but we should also be celebrating that people are
there and that we have returned.
Whether we live every
week in the path of God, or we stumble and have found our way back, we
need to celebrate that we are here and that others have found God as
well because we know that God is celebrating in Heaven. Why are we
letting him eat all the ice cream?!?
